What is medication management?

Medication management is ongoing care in which your provider prescribes, monitors, and adjusts psychiatric medications. The goal is the most benefit with the fewest side effects. It is more than writing a prescription: it is a working partnership, with regular check-ins to track how you feel and what needs to change.

What to expect

  1. Initial evaluation. We review your symptoms, mental health history, past medications (what helped, what did not, and why), medical conditions, current medications, and supplements. Many patients start with a full mental health evaluation.
  2. A shared decision. Your provider explains the options, how each medication works, expected timelines, and common side effects, so you can decide together.
  3. Careful start. Most psychiatric medications start at a low dose and are adjusted gradually. Many take 4 to 8 weeks to reach their full effect.
  4. Regular follow-up. Early visits are more frequent. Once you are stable, check-ins become less frequent. We order lab monitoring when a medication calls for it.
  5. Adjusting as life changes. Stress, pregnancy plans, new medical conditions, or side effects can all mean it is time to revisit your plan.

Conditions we manage

When medication has not been enough

If you have tried two or more antidepressants without adequate relief, you may have treatment-resistant depression. For some patients, ketamine-assisted therapy at our Johns Creek clinic is an option to discuss alongside ongoing medication management.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch my medication management to Vigor Wellness Space?

Yes. Bring a list of your current medications and doses, and records from your previous prescriber if you have them. We will review everything at your first visit.

Is telehealth medication management available?

Yes, for patients located in Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, or New Mexico at the time of the visit. Some controlled medications have additional prescribing requirements; your provider will explain what applies to you.

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept insurance. Care is fee-for-service. Call or text (770) 676-3330 for current pricing.

What if I have side effects?
