Weight Loss Treatment

If you are searching for medical weight loss in Alpharetta, Vigor Wellness Space offers something most commercial programs don’t: a nurse practitioner who personally evaluates, doses, and monitors every patient from the first visit through the entire course of treatment.

The need is real in Georgia. Adult obesity prevalence in Georgia was 35.4% as of the CDC’s most recent Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data, ranking the state 19th nationally. Diabetes affects an estimated 11.4% of Georgia adults according to the Georgia Department of Public Health, with tens of thousands more living with the condition undiagnosed. GLP-1 therapies were originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes and are now the most clinically validated medical weight loss tool available, regulating appetite and blood sugar through the same hormonal pathway. We also offer GLP-1 weight loss in Johns Creek for patients closer to our clinic.

How GLP-1 therapy works

GLP-1 medications work by mimicking a hormone your body already produces to regulate appetite and digestion. They suppress hunger, slow gastric emptying, and improve insulin sensitivity, which together produce sustained, gradual weight loss rather than rapid, hard-to-maintain results.

Treatment starts with a comprehensive initial assessment covering your health history, current medications, and weight-related goals. From there, we build a personalized dosing plan, starting at a low dose and adjusting over time based on your response and any side effects. Ongoing follow-up appointments track your progress and let us fine-tune your plan as you go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from Alpharetta patients considering medical weight loss.

Semaglutide targets one hormone pathway, GLP-1. Tirzepatide targets two, GLP-1 and GIP, which has shown somewhat greater average weight loss in clinical studies. Your provider helps you decide which fits your health profile and goals. Read our full comparison →
Results vary by medication, dose, and individual factors like adherence and activity level. Your provider sets expectations specific to your treatment plan during your consultation rather than a generic number.
No. GLP-1 injections use very fine needles and are typically painless or cause only mild discomfort. Most patients self-administer at home once a week after being trained during their visit.
The most common side effects are nausea, constipation, or mild stomach upset, especially when starting or increasing a dose. These typically improve over time and are discussed at every follow-up.
Coverage varies by plan and medication. Our team can help you understand your options during your consultation.
Every patient is evaluated and monitored in person by a nurse practitioner with direct oversight of your treatment plan, not a rotating set of remote providers.
